We are thrilled to share that The Art of Being Black's February project is a part of a prestigious exhibition at The Rooms in St. John's, Newfoundland! From may 18 to september 22 of 2024, our work exists alongside the creations of many other incredible artists from the province, in an exhibition co-curated by Rose Bouthilier and Mireille Eagan.

This exhibition is a significant event in Newfoundland's art scene, bringing together a diverse collection of works that reflect the rich cultural heritage and creative spirit of our community. We are honored to have our February project featured as part of this broader showcase for art enthusiasts and the general public alike.
About The February Project:
The February project by The Art of Being Black includes 29 powerful video portraits, accompanied by a unique poem that delves into the diverse experiences and identities of Black individuals in Newfoundland and Labrador. This initiative is a heartfelt celebration of Black culture, showcasing the stories, emotions, and resilience of our community members.
What to Expect from the Exhibition:
Diverse Artworks: The exhibition will feature a variety of artworks from talented artists across Newfoundland, including visual art, installations, video art, and more. Each piece offers a unique perspective on the cultural and social fabric of our province.
Video Portraits and Poetry: Our contribution to the exhibition includes 29 video portraits that capture the essence of Black life in Newfoundland, complemented by evocative poetry. These works are not just art but powerful narratives that challenge stereotypes and promote understanding.
Curated Experience: Co-curated by Rose Bouthilier and Mireille Eagan, this exhibition promises a thoughtfully arranged and impactful experience that highlights the best of Newfoundland's artistic talent and creativity.
